PARADE - THE GIANT WHEEL (2023)

Big House Events created the 12-foot rotating structure at the heart of Autin Dance Company’s Parade – The Giant Wheel, a large-scale outdoor performance celebrating the power of communities coming together.

Combining aluminium fabrication with curved timber construction, the wheel needed to work not simply as a striking scenic structure, but as a moving part of a live performance. Powered by street artists and performers and accompanied by live music, it had to withstand the practical demands of movement, outdoor use and interaction while delivering the visual impact the production required.

Projects of this scale involve a considerable amount of problem-solving behind the scenes. The Big House team worked through fabrication, prototyping, adjustment and practical testing in the workshop, refining the structure and its movement before it reached a public audience.

The finished wheel became both a performance structure and a focal point for the spectacle – demonstrating the crossover between large-scale scenic construction, specialist fabrication and the practical engineering required to turn an ambitious creative idea into something that works in the real world.
