Big House Events created this one-off prop for the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, taking the piece from workshop construction through to a finished prop ready for performance.

The build required careful consideration of structure, balance and material choice, creating a piece that was durable enough for repeated use while remaining practical to handle and transport.

Built and finished in the Big House workshop, the prop combined structural fabrication with detailed finishing to create a visually convincing result designed to work under performance conditions.

The project demonstrates the practical thinking behind bespoke prop building, where appearance is only part of the brief. Weight, durability, movement and transportation all need to be considered alongside the finished look to create a prop that works successfully on stage.
