Scenic Construction & Theatre Set Fabrication

Big House Events created scenic elements for the Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s family production The Great Grumpy Gaboon, helping to transform the stage into the colourful woodland setting of the story.

Working from the designer’s vision, the team fabricated a collection of bespoke scenic pieces designed to create an imaginative environment for young audiences while meeting the practical requirements of a touring production.

Built and finished in the Big House workshop, the scenery combined theatrical craftsmanship with practical construction, bringing together colour, character and detail in pieces designed to make an impact on stage.

The project is a good example of the role scenic construction can play in bringing a creative concept to life, translating an original design into physical scenery ready for performance and touring.
